Freelance Dramatherapy

There are many benefits of using Dramatherapy in:

I believe an early intervention can prevent and reduce risks of more severe problems in the future.

There are many aspects and themes that can be explored during sessions, not just to help children or young adults emotionally, but as well to help them to develop social skills.

I can assess and identify specific needs in a group or individually and we can discuss together the aims or expectations for the sessions. I can then organize and plan a tailored program to cover those needs. Some common themes can arise from

  • family crisis,

  • physical or learning disabilities,

  • social isolation,

  • economic or social deprivation,

  • abuse, or

  • being on the autistic spectrum

any of these could trigger behavioural problems, depression, self-harming, lack of self–esteem, isolation, anxiety or other mental health problems.

Usually dramatherapy sessions are organized weekly, and can be for long, short-term or individual interventions. Sessions can run from 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the group needs. I offer supportive/informative meetings with parents, carers or staff members as well as written reports when necessary. The work is always confidential but maintaining good levels of communication between all those involved. We agree the terms and boundaries of the intervention before hand.
