Dramatherapy with Families

There are many aspects in a family that can be worked out in Dramatherapy. Sessions offer the space for the group as a whole to explore feelings around different issues that may be affecting the proper functionality or relationships within the family group. New ways of communication can emerge from the sessions bringing up confidence among the family members.

  • Individual work is as well an option, depending on the particular needs of the client. Because of Dramatherpy’s indirect approach the affecting issues can be explored through a variety of creative material.

  • Sometimes it can be challenging for a family to adapt to new changes or traumatic situations. Dramatherapy can help to support those feelings to minimize a negative or destructive impact.

  • Dramatherapy can offer a supportive environment for mothers who may be suffering from antenatal or postnatal mental problems. I can support the mother in developing a relationship with her child to reduce risks. Mothers can be on their own or work with their baby, where is clinically safe to do so.

  • Dramatherapy sessions can be beneficial as well for mothers of premies (premature babies) or those who have suffered from traumatic birth experiences. I am aware this can be an overwhelming stressful situation, especially challenging and demanding for the mother and/or other family members. In this case, sessions can be a space for you and/or your family, to allow yourself some time to express and support those difficult feelings.
